How does ElectroForms work?

ElectroForms data capture process illustration; from mobile to Excel

  • Using the ElectroForms system on a mobile device, the user selects the form they wish to edit.
  • Once this information has been entered, and any data-entry rules have been validated, the user clicks Send
  • Alternatively the user can save the form to open at a later date
  • ElectroForms then transforms this information into two distinct formats - an Excel document and an XML file
  • ElectroForms then sends these documents to the specified e-mail address
  • The documents can now be viewed/edited by Microsoft Excel or an XML viewer/editor.

What is XML?

XML is an open-standard format which allows for information to be easily understood by other computer systems. Basically it is future-proofing your data. This means that all your data could be easily read into a database at a later date, even if you don't have those systems in place now.

The Hardware

ElectroForms runs on Windows Mobile 6.1 and above devices. Currently, we recommend the HP Ipaq Mobile Messenger. Packed with a range of advanced features and wireless technology - the Mobile Messenger provides a keypad for ease of entry for data, along with everything you would need while on-site. This includes a phone, WLAN capability, Outlook, GPS, camera and e-mail.
